I went with my friend to see a movie. We both like horror and disturbing thrillers, so we figured this would be a good time! So, I sit down at the movie and begin to watch. It’s a little slow, it’s mildly light on truly disturbing scenarios; however, it’s not really a bad movie either. Then the disturbing shit begins….

I left the theater not knowing what exactly this film was about, nor did I actually understand the ending. Maybe I’m slow or something. Perhaps I didn’t quite get the whole slamming a log against a man’s genitalia and then jerking him off until his now blood engorged penis cums (in spurts of crimson cum). Maybe that’s my problem…I’m just not intelligent enough to “get it”. Anyhow…the movie (which I saw several days ago and still am not sure if I liked it or not) is definitely out there. You should watch it and then see if you can’t explain to me what this movie was actually about.

I think I’m going to repaint my kitchen in the near (no..haha…not really but I do want to repaint it) future. First, I must move this giant laser printer off the kitchen floor. It’s like 115 pounds and unpleasant to move around. So, there it has sat since I brought it in and yah…not any time soon.

If no one has seen the movie Wristcutters: A Love Story, I highly recommend it. I didn’t think it was going  to be as good as it was.  It’s an older one made back in 2006 I believe? It’s soundtrack is totally awesome as well. If you like quirky films, it’s pretty damned good. You can find it on The Pirate Bay, as a side note.

On the upside, there’s bunnies!

What are, things that rock out?

Things that suck. We were looking for “Things that suck.”

Actually, it’s not all that bad. I had the joy of catching District 9 over the weekend, and man that movie is freakin’ awesome. To me it’s very allegorical to Deep South Slavery and Jim Crow laws, as well as the Israeli-Palestinian segregation not to mention Apartheid. The movie was really well done and the CG was amazing. It was filmed in a documentary form, and some of the things that they showed happening to the poor “prawn” were just brutal. Having to have licenses for children, their children being burned alive if discovered to be created without a license. Disturbing, they weren’t allowed to possess any technology (their own or human) it was really disgusting to me.  The movie is absolutely superb at drawing you in and being believable. I’d see it a second time!

I’m changing jobs! My Director was really (in my personal opinion) kind of a unpleasant about it. He pretty much told me I should go, even though I was undecided. He didn’t counter-offer or even say, “Well, we hate to see you go.” or anything like that. I understand the economy is still limping along and all, and I really didn’t expect him to bring my salary up to what I’m being offered at my new company, but a token offer would have sufficed. Even a simple, “Well, we can’t match an increase in salary, but maybe we can work out some ways to keep you on board.” That didn’t happen. Sucks, but that’s life and the company I’m moving to is more up my alley as far as skill sets go anyhow. I will post more on this event as I exit my current job.

The weather has been kick ass for the past 3 or four days despite the off and on rain (I like rain!). It’s been not cotton field in August hot outside and it’s been breezy. I’m totally a fan of that. The downside, is that it’s creeping back up into muggy kick your ass heat and that is why the weather is going to suck in the next two or so days. =-/

G.I. Joe! I almost forgot. Saw it, wasn’t bad; however, it could have been better I think? I’ll be interested to see if the next installments feature better story and the same level of quality action. Some of it was just for the sake of “look at this cool shit we can do with CG and explosions”, but it is G.I. Joe after all…..right? Oh, you know what would have been cool at the end of it? They should have done those little kids lessons that they used to do at the end of the cartoon. “…and knowing is half the battle.” “Go Joe!” hehe. Yah. No pics this time, but I got some comin’!

Movies: The Watchmen. Horrible movie. The graphic novel, excellent. Loved it. The movie, is horrible. I tried to give it a chance. I liked the ambiance, I didn’t mind the rather gratuitous action (as poorly choreographed as it was), and I didn’t mind the costumes (it’s a super hero flick!). The acting was wooden, the camera work was terrible, and the love scenes (absolute suckage as well) were just funny. I laughed through the entire love scene on the Owl Ship. It was absolutely horrible. Total suckage.

Dinner: Ate dinner at a very small Italian Restaurant. I don’t recall the name now (wtf??) and it was absolutely brilliant. The sea scallops were pan seared with a lemon sauce drizzled around risotto and green sugar snap peas. Excellent. It was absolutely wonderful. I loved every bit of it. I have to say it was the best dish I’ve ever eaten from an Italian place other than Chicken Parmigiana. Absolutely Pwnage.

I’ll end this on a high note, cue a page from Grant’s book. Cue serious pwnage from Thailand, Sunaree Phongakarn:

Yah, its hot...

Yah, it's hot...

I watched, with a friend, a movie titled, Waltz With Bashir. This movie is actually an animated documentary from Israel about the 1982 Lebanon War. The movie is not entertaining at all. I hadn’t read any reviews of it before going, and the way it was described to me gave me the impression that it was at least mostly a work of fiction. That was so not true hehe.

Waltz With Bashir is a very honest look (at least in my opinion) of the Massacre that took place in Lebanon (by Lebanese Christian Phalangists directly and by indirect aid, the IDF) in the Sabra and Shatila camps. If you are not familiar with the Sabra and Shatila Massacre I suggest you click the linkage and read about it (you may draw your own conclusions). The documentary was done by a man who was there and interviews people who were present at the time. The interesting thing to me about the entire affair is that, in my opinion, Israel has (and it’s not just related to the massacre but in other actions) in some ways participated in Nazi like dehumanisation of certain groups of people (be they labeled terrorist organization, or what basically amounts to refugees). But that’s for another discussion.

The movie/documentary is really well put together, and ends with some startling imagery. It was a little long, but at the end even though I wasn’t entertained so much as made informed of Israel’s complacency in the matter and how that further created tensions and militants in Palestine. This documentary (by an Israeli) will give you some more depth with which to think about the tensions that exist between Palestine and Lebanon and Israel. I believe there are torrents of the movie abound.
